Counselling may help to achieve a more authentic way of being, as Jeanette believes if we can make sense of and understand how our past affects our present feelings and behaviours it may be possible to make changes to the way we live our lives and relate to others in the present.
Counselling may not be an easy process, sharing emotional and difficult situations and feelings can be daunting as well as finding ways to change which may bring mixed feelings, but with my support along the way, we will endeavour to find the way forward that is right for you.
Jeanette was born in South Africa and moved to the UK in 1999. After working in the corporate world for over twenty years Jeanette decided it was time to do something she felt passionate about and enrolled on the Introduction to Counselling Skills course and started volunteering for Macmillan Cancer Support. Since then Jeanette has completed the Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling at Farnborough College, BA (Hons) Degree in Counselling at Guildford College (accredited by the University of Greenwich) and Certificate in Counselling Young People at No. 5 Reading.
Jeanette’s training is integrative and humanistic drawing on various theoretical perspectives, integrating knowledge and skills from Person-centred, Existential, Gestalt, Psychodynamic and Attachment Loss & Bereavement theories. Working with the here and now and reflecting on difficult issues and experiences from the past or present can lead to self-awareness and an understanding of learnt behaviour which can lead to change.
Jeanette is an Accredited Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and has current liability insurance.
